A most unusual birch, a departure from the tree form which we are most accustom to, this birch forms a multi-stemmed shrub growing to 2 to 3m tall. As the name suggests this birch is most at home in wet soils where it is found growing in bogs in the boreal forests of northern North America. Its is also worth noting that this is the only birch with red autumn leaves.
