This small deciduous and unusual tree is a intergeneric hybrid between Catalpa bignonioides and Chilopsis linearis. It was breed at the Botanical Garden of the Uzbek Academy of Science in the then USSR (now Uzbekistan) in 1964 for what ever reason best left to Soviet scientists (almost has a dystopian vibe to it). It is quite hardy and its flowers are gorgeous however sadly it does not glow in the dark.
